New on February 13...
Thanks so much, Webmaster Celia!
Celia's business is going very well, and as a result her
available time to devote to the troop website has been
limited. Her clients' gain is our loss. Thanks so much
to Celia for all her excellent work for the past 1-1/2
years!! Until such time that she's all ours again, the
website will have a retro look, mostly in the interest
of speed, for now. Through the end of February, this
website will be changing on a near-daily basis. Check back
here often for the latest new...
Welcome, New Boy Scouts!
A special welcome to the scouts who crossed over from Pack
555 last week. If you ever have questions or need information,
please don't hesitate to ask our more than capable leaders. All
of us have had the same question at some time in the past.
We're glad you're here and we're excited about the upcoming
year with your Scout! If you haven't complete the Youth
Application form (yes, very similar to the one you completed
more than 4 years ago), please do so as soon as possible so that
your son's registration moves from the Pack to the Troop. No
additional cost if you're crossing over.
If you missed the February 7 parents meeting, you'll want to see
the handouts from that meeting: 2012 Troop Dates, Suggested
Equipment List for New Scouts, and the Parents Guide.
The Next Big Thing....
Planning is well underway for our first fundraiser of the year.
Troop 555 hosts three Fish Fries at the St Gertrude Holy Grill
during Lent. These three events provide all of our funding for
the pack, troop, and crew for the year. All scouts should plan on
participating--there's a job for everyone. Parents are welcome
(needed!) too. Wear your Class B uniforms and bring a dessert
to feed 8-10 people. Let's invite all our neighbors and friends for
a great meal, at a great value, for a great chance to support
some deserving young men! First Fish Fry is February 24 from
5:00-7:00.
Upcoming Events:
February 14: Troop Meeting
February 19: Stewardship Sunday at
St Gertrude
February 21: Troop Meeting
February 24: Fish Fry #1
February 26: Skiing at Perfect North
February 28: Jackson's Eagle Court of
Honor (Scout Center)
March 4: Pack 20 Crossing Over
March 6: Troop Meeting

Gertrude

This area still needs to be
updated....
The BSA has created a new
medical form that will be
required for use effective
January 1, 2010. The form is
available here.
Major changes to the new
form:
o There is one form for all
members (no more Class 1 &
2 and Class 3 forms)
o All forms must be
completed annually
o Part A and C are for
most events lasting less than
72 hours
o Part B must be
completed by a physician and
is required for events over 72
hours, resident camp, and
strenuous activities.
o Participants in High
Adventure activities are
required to meet the
height/weight requirements
on the form.

"You are what you learn. If all you know is how to be a gang member, that's what you'll be, at least until you learn something else. If you go to law school, you'll see the world as a competition. If you study engineering, you'll start to see the world as a complicated machine that needs tweaking. A person changes at a fundamental level as he or she merges with a particular field of knowledge. If you don't like who you are, you have the option of learning until you become someone else. There's almost nothing you can't learn your way out of. Life is like a jail with an unlocked, heavy door. You're free the minute you realize the door will open if you simply lean into it." --Scott Adams in Dilbert.com
